Rural roads in Australia
are sprawling and somwhat dangerous due to all the animals and rough
parts of the road. To combat this many Aussies have outfitted their
vehicles with a variety of protective mods that are set in place as a
barrier between your 4X4 and whatever might damage it. There are many
different parts of a vehicle that require some form of protection due
to all the ways your vehicle can be damaged during driving.
Modifications such as bull bars, rear bars, underbody plates, side
steps, weather shields and snorkels are all made to protect your
vehicle and increase its longevity on and off the road.
The first modification
you should make to your vehicle to make it off road viable is a lift
kit. There are many different modifications that constitute a lift
kit, but primarily it's either changing the suspension or the tyres
of the vehicle. This modification is semi-required since the
vehicle's stock suspension or wheels aren't made to handle all of the
extra weight all the other modifications add to the 4X4. You can
however, still go without this modification but you'll be increasing
the risk of your vehicle breaking down or parts breaking down due to
too much stress. Once you've decided weather or not you'll add the
lift kit then you can start deciding on which mods you're going to
need on or off the road.
If you go to any rural
area of the world where animals often run across the road you're
bound to see many vehicles with a bull bar attached to the front.
Bull bars come in a variety of shapes and sizes but primarily they're
not allowed to go above the vehicle's bonnet as that would cause
severe damage to any pedestrian hit by it. You can find many
different 4X4
bull bars for sale that all fit the regulations and
guidelines set by the Australian government, they also come in a
variety of materials stainless steel being the most common. They
aren't just for protection, many bull bars also have the added option
of flood lights or a winch. The amount of options you have in the
many different 4X4 bull bars for sale on the Australian auto
modification market.
Then there are the
underbody plate which protects the vehicle's guts from the ground and
rocky surfaces which could potentially damage the vehicle. After that
connect the bull bars to the side steps and to a rear bar which will
add protection to the back of the vehicle in the same way as a bull
bar.
